Min says Russia to manufacture 700 planes, 430 copters by 2030

MOSCOW, Oct 12 (PRIME) -- Russia will produce 700 airplanes and 430 helicopters by 2030, Deputy Transport Minister Igor Chalik said at a parliamentary meeting on Tuesday.

“About 700 airplanes and more than 430 helicopters are to be produced by 2030,” Chalik said.

Passenger aircraft Baikal, IL-114, MC-21, and modernized SSJ100 are among the models to be manufactured.

“Thus, we are going to meet the growing needs of airlines, including the replacement of the aging fleet and, accordingly, its retirement from service,” he said.

Chalik also said that the certification process of the locally designed passenger aircraft MC-21 should be completed in December.

“The MC-21 should be certified in December of this year,” Chalik said.

The MC-21 is a new-generation medium-range passenger airliner, which is being developed by Irkut Corporation, part of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation. The prototype made its first flight on May 28, 2017.
